208V / 240V 2-Pole Track Busway Tap-Off Units

Browse 208V / 240V 2-pole Track Busway plug-in power tap-off units for line-to-line branch-circuit power. These 40A plug-in units connect two hot conductors to deliver overhead power to equipment, workstations, lab devices, kitchen equipment, and other higher-load single-phase loads.

Choose outlet boxes when receptacles should stay mounted directly at the busway. Choose PowerDrop cords when receptacles need to hang closer to equipment, benches, workstations, or production areas.

Track Busway 2-pole conductor diagram for 208V or 240V line-to-line plug-in power

In a 2-pole configuration, the tap-off unit engages two hot conductors and does not use a neutral. Use 208V units when line-to-line power is derived from a 120/208V three-phase wye source. Use 240V units when line-to-line power is required from a 120/240V single-phase source or another compatible 240V source.

Use this 208V / 240V / 2-pole Track Busway power family for line-to-line receptacle loads that do not require a neutral. For standard line-to-neutral loads, use the 120V / 1-pole family. For three-phase equipment, use the 3-phase / 3-pole family. Compare the available 40A plug-in power configurations using the links below.

How 2-Pole Tap-Off Units Deliver 208V / 240V Power

Track Busway run with 2-pole plug-in PowerDrop cord for 208V or 240V line-to-line overhead power

2-pole Track Busway tap-off units engage two hot conductors to provide 208V or 240V line-to-line power without using a neutral. This configuration is used for equipment that needs higher-load single-phase power from the overhead busway.

Use outlet boxes when receptacles should remain mounted at the busway. Use PowerDrop cords when receptacles need to be suspended closer to equipment, benches, workstations, or production areas.

This diagram shows a 2-pole Track Busway tap-off connected between two hot conductors. The neutral is not used in this configuration.

208V line-to-line power is typically supplied from a 120/208V three-phase wye source, while 240V line-to-line power is typically supplied from a 120/240V single-phase source or another compatible 240V source.

208V / 240V 2-Pole Plug-In Unit Specifications

208V / 240V 2-pole Track Busway plug-in units connect two hot conductors to supply line-to-line power. These tap-off units are available as outlet boxes, breakered outlet boxes, and PowerDrop cords with 15A, 20A, or 30A receptacle and breaker configurations.

Use this family for equipment, tools, lab devices, kitchen equipment, and other higher-load single-phase loads that require 208V or 240V power without a neutral. For 120V line-to-neutral loads, use 1-pole tap-off units. For three-phase equipment, use 3-pole tap-off units.

208Y (208V-1PH) Plug-In Units

These 2-pole tap-off units deliver 208Y line-to-line power from a Track Busway system supplied by a 120/208V three-phase wye source.

The tap-off engages two hot conductors to provide 208Y power for lab devices, commercial equipment, light industrial tools, and other higher-load equipment that does not require a neutral.

240V Plug-In Units

These 2-pole tap-off units deliver 240V line-to-line power from a Track Busway system supplied by a 120/240V single-phase source.

The tap-off engages the two hot legs of the system to provide 240V power for appliances, heating elements, tools, and other higher-load equipment that does not require a neutral.

Breaker Configurations for Track Busway Plug-In Units

Pole count refers to the internal breaker configuration of the plug-in unit, not the physical track.

  • 1-Pole tap-offs connect one hot and the neutral to deliver 120V (line-to-neutral)
  • 2-Pole tap-offs connect two hots (no neutral) to deliver 208V single-phase or 240V (line-to-line)
  • 3-Pole tap-offs engage all three hots and the neutral to support 208V or 480V three-phase, four-wire configurations

For example, a 3-pole plug-in may be installed on a four-conductor (3-phase, L-L-L-N) Track Busway to serve three-phase loads with a neutral present.
