DATA DROP

Modern office workspace with overhead plug-in power distribution supporting flexible workstation layouts

A Data Drop is a method for routing low-voltage cabling from an overhead cable tray down to desks, benches, and equipment.

This approach keeps cabling organized, protected, and easy to reposition—ideal for offices, labs, and industrial environments where change is constant.

USA TrackBusway Data Drop Plug-Ins provide a clean and flexible way to deliver network, AV, and control cabling directly from the Track Busway system to work areas below.

For an overview of how Track Busway supports low-voltage cabling and device mounting, see Track Busway for Data.

Typical Track Busway Data Drop Wiring Diagram

This diagram illustrates how low-voltage data cabling routes from the Track Busway system to workstations below using the integrated cable tray and structured data drop assemblies.

Flexible Data Delivery Overhead

  • Bundle and protect low-voltage cabling from ceiling to floor
  • Add or relocate data drops anywhere along the Track Busway without installing conduit
  • Route network, AV, and control cabling through the integrated cable tray
  • Ideal for labs, industrial facilities, offices, and data centers where layouts change
Mesh Data Drop Sleeves

Our mesh sleeves attach directly to the Track Busway above, creating a protected and visually clean path for Ethernet, AV, and communications cabling. Strain relief is built in at the connection point, and the open-weave design provides both cable support and visibility during maintenance.

Closure Strip – Protect Floor-Bound Data Runs

When using mesh sleeves or overhead routes for floor-level data drops, the Closure Strip keeps the cable tray sealed and tidy. It prevents debris from entering the open slot and keeps multi-run bundles stable as they transition from tray to sleeve. This is ideal for retail, warehouse, and manufacturing spaces where cleanliness and cable protection are essential.

Power + Data in One Track

Run 120 / 208 V single-phase power while the built-in tray neatly carries low-voltage cables overhead.

  • One install handles power and data
  • Tool-free tap-offs add outlets fast
  • Keeps ceilings clear—no messy conduit
